Dear Parents,
We hope that the start of the school year went well for you and your children and that your children have settled into the new school year.
In this first newsletter of the school year, we would like to share some important information with you.
New UPEL Board
The new board would like to introduce itself.
Who are we?
President: Elisabeth Monamy
Vice President: Nathalie Kourimsky
Secretary: Karima Höpler
Deputy Secretary: Christian Richter-Schoeller
Treasurer: Jean-Paul Chidiac
The Parents’ Association (UPEL) represents the interests of parents at the Lycée Français de Vienne, including at the Grinzing campus.
Our team consists of parents who volunteer their time to improve the learning conditions for our children and to promote dialogue between parents, teachers, and school administrators. We actively represent your interests as parents.
What does the UPEL do?
The UPEL offers parents a platform for support in all school-related matters.
Our activities include regular meetings with the school administration and taking parents’ perspectives into account in school decisions.
We also organize a variety of activities for children on Wednesday afternoons, including creative workshops, sports activities, and cultural events that promote learning in a relaxed and playful environment. This year, we are once again the only organization offering activities for our youngest students in the Petite Section!
The UPEL is available to parents to advise them on individual school challenges, whether educational or organizational. In collaboration with parents, teachers, and the school administration, we always find a solution.

Elections
Elections for the School Council and School Board are coming up!
What is the Conseil d’école ?
The Conseil d’école (School Council) is the central body that represents the interests of parents in the school’s decision-making process. Issues such as the school budget, changes to the curriculum, and organizational matters are discussed here. The elected representatives have a direct influence on the development of our school and are committed to ensuring that the interests of parents and students are heard. Strong parental representation on the committee enables us to achieve the best for our children.
What is the Conseil d’établissement?
The Conseil d’établissement (school board) is a democratic body composed of representatives of the educational community (parents, students, teachers, staff) that is involved in the administration and important decisions concerning the school or institution. It issues statements on the budget, the educational project, school rules, and safety measures, and contributes to greater coherence within the institution.
And most importantly, vote online between Tuesday, October 6, 2025, and Friday, October 10, 2025, until 2 p.m. Every vote counts!
